You still owe someone.

Often you'll hear people say "nobody owes you anything" or "I don't owe you anything". Well this is very true but in the real sense of it, you actually owe people something and a couple of people owe you something.

Now, don't get me wrong, this is not to fuel an entitlement mentality or make you excessively committed to certain people, but there are certain obligations you can't ignore by choosing to be a lone ranger.

This statement is usually made by most people to justify why they shouldn't take up certain responsibilities that clearly has their names written all over it. You owe no one nothing but some persons committed their lives to see you become what you are growing to become.

Clearly, there are certain requests from family, friends and colleagues that you should respectfully decline depending on situations, but that you don't owe them to they don't owe you isn't true. We owe ourselves, Love, time, money, compliments, criticism and other things that keep life going. Nobody was built to live life alone. No one is that strong. Even Jesus had a Simon to help with the cross.

We all have a cross to bear and what does it mean when we neglect it? Isn't that being irresponsible? Besides how do people get value from you when you don't give to them. Always collecting from people without reciprocating already makes you a pest that should be avoided.

Next time when you have to say to your self "I owe nobody anything" always add a clause that doesn't take away humanity from you, add a clause that reminds you of a day you'll be needing help and succour from someone else.

You obviously shouldn't go approaching your parents, boss and friends always with the notion that they owe you something, that isn't a comfortable position to put yourself, in fact you will be disappointed most of the times.

I will recommend that you seek to give value, ask for help politely and when they turn you down, don't get hurt. It's normal for humans not to meet all our needs, but it doesn't mean we do not have obligations to ourselves.

Black tax has a high propensity of leaving you with little or nothing as savings but be wise, know your limit and take calculated compromise
