Being a Bachelor (Ep 12)
Let’s talk about your Big Break and looking through different lenses to walk you there.
There are several roads that lead to the market, a popular statement you must have heard, but have you considered the possibilities of having several roads to your Big Break? Imagine your big picture and all the possible ways to achieve it, Did you know that it’s still very little compared to the diverse means available? Sometimes the easier route is threading the paths of people before you.

I’m currently on a book by Bayo Adeyinka, where he compiled some very thoughtful and inspiring thoughts on how to approach life. One thing strikes me and it’s the fact that being a One-Man-Mopol doesn’t get you there anymore if you want to win, your arsenal has to be rich with different methods to kill a rat, oh no, I mean a Goliath.
It’s very easy to be consumed by your ambition without actually working towards it or being thought-filled with dreams of what you’ll do when you finally make that first 1m or get promoted to that top managerial role and in the real sense, you aren’t even prepared for it.
Seeing life from the lenses of others helps your journey, helps in avoiding some errors, not like you won’t still make some peculiar ones, but casualties can be less, in some cases and for the better part of it, you are more informed. This is a distinguishing factor noticeable among high flyers, what you know helps you scale through some phases easily.
While gunning for the big break, be as open and receptive as possible, that’s the only way you can pick pointers when they glare at you, read books and converse with people, sometimes explore the other perspectives, maybe the negatives or flip sides.
Has it ever happened that while reading a book or listening to a respected person they mention a principle you have since been living by without even knowing it’s that important? Sometimes you don’t know what you are doing right except you hear it from someone, then and only then can you know what to intensify efforts on. Look through another lens.
The human nature tempts us to quickly discard people who do not fit into certain moral standards or expectations, but it is wisdom to be able to look beyond someone’s fault and glean from them. Don’t be tempted to box another human being in an oversized suit of “you must or be near perfect”, they are human, it is a disservice to you to let the not too good side of others dictate whether you learn from them or not.
Take advice from people and learn how not to advise people when they get into a similar situation, it is only learning and looking beyond your nose that expose you to how it should be done and how it shouldn’t.
Being a creative, one thing makes your work stand out and original, it is approaching the norm from a different direction like everyone will do, sometimes the second or third look is where your breakthrough lies, don’t be satisfied with the first option, look a little further.
What do you consider your Big Break? Stay unbroken, we need to more people to thread that path and someday say “I came, i saw and i conquered”
